From West to East

Emotions were running high as Tim and I arrived at Broome Airport - well to call it an airport is a bit of an overstatement. Its just a few small buildings, and the departure lounge is an open courtyard.

This is where Tim and I parted company temporarily. I would be flying to Sydney to stay with Uncle Joe, Toni and Sam whilst Tim carried on in the van until Melbourne. Not an easy decision to reach at all but one that we both hoped was the right one. For me it meant the start of a new adventure on my own, well almost on my own. Mulligan had decided to come along for thr journey for fear of missing out on all the action :)

My chosen airline was Virgin Blue which is one of Australia's 'no-fills' airline. This would be a momentus occasion for me as it was my first flight all by myself for the first time in my life. Always good to have a first in your life, even at 30! The flight from Broome to Perth was fairly non-eventful and passed by very very quickly. Before I knew it we had landed in Perth and were greeted by... rain! I'd not seen rain in months and so this was a definite shock to the system. I ran from the aeroplane into the terminal building trying not to get wet - no lovely covered walkway for me.

I had three hours to while away in Perth Airpirt before my connecting flight to Sydney at 1.05am. I quickly found some free internet and a bar for a cheeky glass of wine. Even Mulligan enjoyed a sip. Don't worry Becky we are not teaching him to become a party bear and this is only his 2nd taste of alcohol, the first being at Bundaberg.

Before I knew it, it was time to commence the final part of my journey, Perth - Sydney which would take 7 hours (a 4 hour flight and 2 hour time difference between Sydney and Perth)!

To my delight the plane was quite quiet and so I had three seats all to myself. So Muligan and I stretched out and went to sleep for the whole duration of the flight. I was woken from my sleep by the captain's announcement to 'fasten our seatbeats' as we were beginning our descent into Sydney. Excellent! The views out of the window were amazing as you can see.

And so my epic journey across Australia had come to an end and my new adventure was about to begin.... Just needed Uncle Joe to pick me up!
