Whatever anyone says, 5.30am is a horrible time especially when you're expecting to be awake for many hours to come en route to a far off place. It's 11am in the departure lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 and although this has been written, its not been possible to use the WIFI and upload it due to a distinct lack of assistance..If anyone from Heathrow is reading this, please sort it out!!
Bacon sandwiches and tea has been consumed for breakfast so we're set for the next few hours.
The excitement levels are increasing by the moment as its impossible not to get caught up in the hustle & bustle of people from all walks of life moving to the many far flung destinations on offer. I've always fancied turning up with a credit card and passport and seeing whereabouts takes my fancy! After all the running around the last 10 days its calming to know that there's nothing else to sort and that its finally time to focus on soaking up new experiences, cultures and of course the sun :)
Bill and Mulligan have got far too excited and wanted their photo taken already
We've seen a guy wearing traditional costume from an unknown location complete with head scarf, brightly coloured traditional clothing and brand new white Nike trainers!!! You never know who or what you're going to encounter.
The volcanic ash and BA strikes that have disrupted air travel over the past week on the news appear to have recinded however we came across a US traveller en route to Istanbul and a Mediterranean cruise who had a different story. His flight from Seattle had been delayed prompting an overnight stay in London and at the time we spoke to him his onward flight to Istanbul was already 2 hours delayed. The airport seemed to be calm and without any further fuss.
