Before you ask, no, we didn't have a change of heart and head for Eastern Europe, instead we're flying at 11,407 metres or 37,423ft at 909km/h or 565mph above Belaya Tserkov. It's nice and clear and the clouds are the ubiquitious (one for Sarah Cornaby!) cotton wool blanket just below us.
As you'll probably have gathered I've found the rather exciting flight path 'app' on the inflight entertainment system which also tells me that it's -50C or -58F outside. Who said we'd be enjoying balmy Singapore humidity and temperatures this year?
We're flying on Qantas flight QF032 London to Sydney via Singapore on the new Airbus A380 'double decker' that is loaded with lots of new bits and pieces designed to make flying easier for passengers. Slighly larger premium economy seats and luxurious business class fares coupled with increased passenger capacity should make the new plane a common sight in the skies if carriers can stomp up the large multimillion price tag and improved infrastructure at their airports.
The new plane also has a rather funky little addition - "Sky Cam" - a tail mounted camera that is online all the time so you can everything in front of you. It was amazing on takeoff!
Inflight lunch update for Chris (RNLI) - Tebouleh & Organic Sprout Salad with Seared Chicken in a Tarragon Cream Sauce with Roast Potatoes and Greens. Followed by a Twix ice cream and washed down with some James Squire Golden Ale. Very nice indeed? Amber had the same swapped the ale for sparkling wine. Darlings :)
It prompts all manner of discussion about airplane food - yay or nay?
Oh and just for Val - the pants update. All present and correct :)
