The business end is approaching fast with both of us finishing work on Friday. It seems only yesterday that the trip was proposed with hundreds of days until we left work and even more until we flew. Well, as of now there's only 316 hours and 21 minutes until we're due to fly out to Singapore. Where has the time flown (sic)?
I'm having lunch with colleagues in the Rising Sun, Poole on Friday followed by drinks after work and Amber is being treated to coffee and cake in Bournemouth. Friends are invited round to the flat on Saturday for a final travelling themed party for proper send off before the final touches are completed for F-Day :)
We've already said our goodbyes to some and its been a difficult time knowing that we'll not see them for the next 12 months although am confident that once we set off the upsetting times will be long forgottten. It's been a time for reflection figuring out how to make the most of the opportunity and maximising this once in a lifetime opportunity but Amber summed it up perfectly over the weekend when she realised that she wouldn't have to hoover for a year!
Insurance, mortgage, utilities, internet, council tax, mobile phones, landline contracts have all been cancelled. I just hope we remember which ones to reinstigate when we return!
Our accomodation is almost booked in Singapore. 3 nights, 4 days at The Inn Crowd - the place where I stayed beforehand - and have pushed the boat out by ordering a triple room to give us some space. All for the princely sum of $SGD 79 or £37.50 per night...job done.
