Ok so we arrived in Agnes Water very late at night in darkness and were ferried across to our accommodation. Let me just explain that 1770 is the famous town where Captain Cook first landed, however there are no hostels there. All the hostels are in Agnes Water and there is just a 7km distance between the two. After a brief hop across to Itch Island (see Tim's post below) we arrived back at 1770 just in time for our Scooter Roo tour.
Here is me readying for of the off on our automatic chopper bikes - at this point I was sh***ing(!) myself and almost convinced myself to get off and give up. But with a few encouraging words from Tim I followed it through. After a brief crash course on how to operate the bike they then pumped out 'Born to be Wild' through the speakers to get us all in the mood. It did help me just that little bit to relax.
Here's Tim sat on his chopper bike all ready for the off - he didn't seem to suffer from the nerves like me. Sadly we arrived a little too late and did not have the Scooter Roo flame jackets. Tim managed to get a flame hat and bike though! I still had a leather jacket and perfectly good helmet to keep me safe and out of trouble. We were told that we'd be taken on a brief tour to the Agnes Water back roads to get us used to the bikes and then once we were confident then we'd be let loose on 1770 for the sunset and potato wedges. The mere mention of potato wedges and it coaxed me into carrying on :)
The famous flame mark on the Chopper bike!
Tim was quiet happy to speed off into the distance whereas I was happy to pootle along about 50-60k. One of the stewards stopped me very early on and put me to the back of the line to allow Tim to get on and not worry about me. It was good at the back of the line though as I knew that I was not holding anyone up so I could amble along slowly gathering speed and watching the sites of Agnes Water and 1770 pass me by. Along the way we spotted Wallabies but they passed us by all too quickly!
The long awaited potato wedges at 1770 which were delicious topped with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce - give it a try back at home. Its yum yum mmmmmmmmmmmmm...
We sat watching the sunset and took in the sights of 1770 and I couldn't help wondering what Captain Cook made of it when he first landed there all those many years ago. We didn't get too long to ponder as we were soon back on the choppers and heading back to base as the darkness set in. The guys at Scooter Roo were brilliant all throughout the ride and we'd just like to say a big thank you to them!
On our final day in Agnes Water we decided to head to one of the beaches after lunch. All the photos that you see below are Tim's masterpieces as he walked all along the beach. I was quite happy and contented to sit in the sun and relax a while and reflect back over the last few days adventures here. Katie and Stu - this was definitely a good recommendation and we can see why you guys loved it so much. The sunset from the beach was just brilliant and we only wished we could have stayed a little bit longer to enjoy this little bit of paradise.
But sadly it was time to head back to the hostel (Cool Bananas) for some dinner - Cup a Soup and some bread I think - whilst we awaited out late night bus to take us onto our next stop.
